Flower Starts for the Spring

We just planted these beauty’s last week and already we are seeing the little seedlings poke through the soil! Aster flowers that is, the above picture. We are now up to 2,000 seedlings growing in our little grow room, my favorite part of the early spring! I am doing my best to figure out how to squish about 4,000 more down there…

The day most celebrated with flowers is just around the corner. Do have a plan yet on how to spoil all those you love? Our CSA/bouquet subscriptions are open for just a day like this! Give 4-6 weeks of bouquets, filled with our fresh and local unique flowers, we have gift certificates to send so you have something tangible to give while you await these stunning flowers!

Our germination chamber has been working so well to give those little seeds just a little extra heat and humidity to start growing. I know you have just been waiting to hear about it! So far seeds have been germinating 3-5 days faster in there than on our heat mats. Because they germinate so fast they need eyes on them frequently to prevent them reaching for the light=tall skinny starts, which means I have an excuse to check them frequently, I don’t mind one bit:) Once we see germination we pull them and put them under lights to grow into beautiful starts for our spring, summer, and fall flowers.

I spent most of yesterday crawling around our mini hoop houses inspecting our overwintered flowers and I am so excited! The plants look healthy, green of course (a beautiful sight), and so far ahead of spring grown flower plants. The rest of the farm is full of mud, rotting leaves (a good thing for the soil but not for the smells), and of course is still pretty chilly, but under the hoops its warm and full of life!

Our CSA/bouquet subscriptions are available on our new website newmerciesflowerfarm.com Starting with our tulip and spring subscriptions, can you believe those babies will be blooming in just a few months?
We also are taking wedding inquiries for 2024, so if you or someone you know are looking for wedding flowers, let us know!

Lots to do and so thankful we get to grow flowers for our valley! Thanks for following along and supporting our farm!

Love,
Me and all our Farmers:)
