Tulips! Spring is Here!
| Hi Friends! I know you couldn’t guess, so I’ll just tell you, the tulips are popping through the ground! And that means blooms are just around the corner! I think its safe to assume they will be here before Easter-ruffly petals and all. Many would say its just a tulip…I have to heartily disagree, they are magnificent flowers! Tulips come in nearly every color white through deep nearly black purple, not just the yellow and red that comes to mind right?They last in the vase for up to 10 days. Keep growing up to 2+ inches once cut. Reach towards the light and do all sorts of bending and stretching to get there-remember those beautiful Rembrandt paintings? Are one of the first spring flowers, a few varieties starting even before my daffodils! I am so excited to see our new varieties this spring! Our 3 main kinds are Doubles, think peony like petals (lots of them!)Fringe, the ends of the leaves look like snow crystals. Parrots, the whole leaf is textured. I don’t think the whole farm family is as excited as me, as the tulip harvest is pretty constant. That’s why we have seasons though, just when we wont want to see another tulip again, we will be on to harvesting the next flowers and all will be ready again when next spring comes around.
